Bloodhounds are very friendly, sensitive dogs which are never aggressive.
They live extremely well in families, with children, and also with other
animals and dogs in the household.
They are moderately active, very tender, loyal, curious and somewhat
stubborn with a strong sense of humour.
As bloodhounds do have an extremely well developed sense of smell, they are ruled by their noses to a great extend, which makes education quite tricky. More precise, they have the desire to follow every interesting scent to find out about its origin; and to stop them requires a very good education. For the education of a bloodhound, you have to invest more time than for any other dog. Some experience with dogs, a friendly and calm authoritative manner, sensitivity and a lot of patience will be helpful.
For inexperienced bloodhound holders, we recommend working with a dog training expert. However, from the age of 12 month on education becomes easier and more sustainable results can be expected.
