Bloodhounds are a healthy breed which does not need too much care. However, the following care activities should be addressed: Although bloodhounds are moderately active, they do need some exercise. Because they forget almost everything else when following an interesting scent, they should be walked on a leash or, if possible, run freely in a fenced yard or garden.
Ears: Ears should be checked and cleaned at least once a week
Eyes: Eyes should be checked frequently and cleaned if necessary
Coat: The coat is short-haired und do not need much care, but you should brush it when necessary.
Claws: Usual care
Teeth: Usual care. Especially younger bloodhounds love to chew, whereas older bloodhounds are somewhat lazy when it comes to chewing a bone or something; hence, we recommend dried pig or cattle ears.
Bloodhounds love to chew, so this will be a good way of cleaning their teeth. Bloodhounds are very clean dogs. Unfortunately they are slobbering, but only after drinking, eating or physical exercise. It is often described that bloodhounds smell, which we cannot confirm. They almost do not smell, and thus even less than most other dogs.
